Each year, Simon Scholars provides all of its students with an opportunity to participate in cross-country college tours covering the East and West coasts. This offering is part of the Meaningful Experiences module of the overall Simon Scholars program. More than 190 juniors will be attending these tours in 2024, representing nearly 100% of the current Simon Scholars at the junior-class level.
The 2024 schedule of Simon Scholars college tours will include the following, with the Washington DC area added as the latest expansion of the available options:
Southern California: Cal Poly Pomona, The Claremont Colleges (Pomona College, Claremont Graduate University, Scripps College, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, Pitzer College), CalTech, Occidental College
Boston: MIT, Harvard, Bentley, Boston College
Pennsylvania / New York: Swarthmore, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, New York University, Columbia
Washington DC: Georgetown, George Washington University, St. John’s College, Johns Hopkins
“We are not aware of any other program that offers experiences at this scale,” said Simon Scholars Executive Director Andy Robles. “It’s a powerful experience for each student with exposure that few often get when it comes to college preparation. In fact, for some students, this is the first time they will have traveled outside California or flown on an airplane.”
We’re thrilled to provide our Simon Scholars with the incredible opportunity to explore campuses across the country, create lasting memories with fellow scholars, and immerse themselves in new cities. These cross-country college tours are a pivotal part of our program, offering invaluable experiences that shape the college journey for each student.
